Day 42 - Fort Atkinson to Chicago

Mostly good with a little bit of bad

This morning started off wonderfully, in wonderful Wisconsin. I went for breakfast at a diner and had (a?) hashbrown casserole which looked and tasted like a slightly soggy but extra tasty hashbrown (by the way, hashbrowns here are a sprawlling plate-sized affair, not a self-contained little fried thing) It was a scrummy breakfast made all the much scrummier by the fact that when I went to pay the waitress told me it was free! I think they'd worked out I was a traveller (cor blimey, I wonder how?) and decided to leave me with a good impression of Wisconsin. It worked! Especially because I then went to buy gas and was given a free lollipop - can't say fairer'n that guv'nor!

I went for a wander around Milwaukee which is a really artsy cool lakesidey kind of town with lots of free wifi. I made the mistake of checking what my friends are all up to on Facebook and became a little indignant that they (you!) all seem to be getting on with pre-Christmas perfectly well without me! Disgusting. Bah humbug to the lot of you.

Standing by the lake in Milwaukee (Lake Michigan) I realised it was the first time I had stood next to a lake I couldn't see the other side of - effectively making it a sea or an ocean in my book.

There were some cool haunted looking houses near the lake too:

I then went to the Milwaukee Public Market to sample the local delicacy that is frozen custard. It's described as super creamy ice cream (it has eggs in it) and it looks like this:

"Joy" doesn't begin to cover it!

After all the frozen custard I made my way to Chicago. Within ten minutes of being there my car was towed and I'd spent 200 bucks recovering it. I'd like to say there was some sort of Mafia involved (maybe even a Tommy gun?) because that would make it at least interesting rather than just a stupid thing I did. Ah well...

I'm now staying with Levi, Stacey, three cats and a frog. The frog is in my room. I've been told he's not worth kissing for princeness but I might give it a go anyway.

Other things I saw today

This farm. Guess what they were growing? That's right, sod all! Very funny

A tiny dead fish
It just sounds rude...
Lots of fog. This isn't the half of it!

One of you must miss me! Mummy??
