Black Friday
Tradition dictates that the day after Thanksgiving should be a day of shopping. It is called Black Friday because, on that one day, any shop that may have been in any debt (in the red) will pop up into the black.
We all trundled off to breakfast this morning to a little cafe at the edge of town.
While we were there I got a brilliant quote from the waitress. When I asked her if she could explain what a horseshoe was in the menu she replied:
"Sure, a horseshoe is the same as a ponyshoe only twice as big"
So that cleared that up!
After breakfast we all (12 of us) went shopping at a department store (Kohl) which had cash registers on opposite sides of the shop and queues that went so far round the shop they nearly joined up. That's a lot of people shopping.
Eventually it came time for me to leave and continue my solo travels. Like the crybaby I am, I ended up sobbing in Kohl's (not a good look) but it seems my dad must have sensed I needed to talk to someone because he called me from Spain just as I was getting into my car and laughed at me for crying just long enough for me to feel better.
Speaking of telepathic weirdness... I am not someone who believes in any of that doohickey but something happened to me last night. I was at Levi's family house, just getting off to sleep when suddenly, out of nowhere, I got punched in the face. Bam! I woke up with a start but there was nobody there! Clearly I hadn't been punched but it felt so much like it! Weird right?
Nashville
After leaving Levi's family I drove to Nashville, country music capital of the world.
I went out to visit the biggest non-casino hotel in the US: the Gaylord Opry. It's huge. It is very famous for its Christmas lights and decorations.
I then treated myself to a couple of hours of mindless entertainment in the shape of the last Twilight movie.
It was fine going on my own but the real problem was that during the trailers (which were almost all for scary films) I did what I normally do (cover ears, close eyes, go "lalalalala") but I guess that's more weird when you're alone and I got some funny looks...
Other things I saw:

This policeman was totally undercover - apart from the POLICE stabvest... |
