Day 9 - San Jose to San Francisco

I have seriously underplanned my trip. I have no idea where I'm going or when- which is fine as long as you're in a fairly interesting place (so far so good) but what if I end up speeding through California and spending a week in South Dakota? That'd be a disaster! Tomorrow I'm going to do some serious planning. With an Excel spreadsheet and everything.

This afternoon I headed out to Santa Cruz and then along Highway 1 to San Francisco. Now, I do keep going on about this road but I am seriously going to miss it - well, I'm going to miss the ocean. Here are some more Highway 1 pictures:

On the way the traffic was really bad because today in San Francisco there was a huge baseball game (playoffs?) as well as a big football game (not actual football). When I got to my friends' house they were all watching the baseball game so I got a little lesson in that. What I've grasped is that it's a bit like cricket only more interesting and with commercial breaks. 

This house is full of Obama stickers and posters which reminds me that the election is in less than a month, I can't want for the excitement! Halloween is also around the corner so as I drove here all along the road I saw farms where they were selling big fat pumpkins.

I've had a request for a photo of the Natmobile so here it is, it's a Kia Optima, it's a hybrid so uses next to no gas and it's my new best friend,
