Day 7 - San Jose

Today was a chillout day. I had pancakes for breakfast (yummy!) got my nails done (fancy!) and went to Costco (surprisingly fun!) Oh and I had a nap. Biiiiiiig fan of naps (if you didn't know that, we've never met)

We went to lunch at In n' Out - a really old style burger joint that claims to have a really limited menu but actually has a huge secret menu, how cool is that? You can order fries "animal style" and they'll come smothered in grilled onions, cheese and a special sauce.

I have nothing else to report travel wise so let me tell you about driving in the USA. Driving here is very different to in the UK but also very different depending on where you are. In the suburbs driving is really sedate, people are super polite (even if they're stuck behind you at a red light and you're both indicating to turn right they won't honk you for being an idiot and not knowing you can go) They drive quite slowly because there's a stop sign on every corner. This would all make you believe that Americans are laid back drivers. You'd be wrong.

Get on a freeway and it's kerrazee. And this is coming from someone who drives ambulances in London. Picture a road that would comfortably fit five lanes. Now add two more lanes, just for fun. Yes, that does make the lanes quite narrow. And yes, American cars do tend to be larger than European ones. Oh and did I mention that the roads aren't black so they're really shiny and blinding? Now add to that the fact that exits from the freeway can be on the right or left. Ready? OK. Now imagine every person on the road has taken a crazy pill and wants to kill you.

Obviously all this doesn't apply if you're driving a space shuttle:
