I swear I am becoming more American by the minute - I actually referred to my mother and "my mom" today. For real. No messin'.
Anyway... I am staying with a super nice family who used to be our neighbours here in San Jose and are sort of like fake cousins to me - fousins, if you will. So my fousin Natasha took me out today to Monterey to see the world famous aquarium and we met these handosme fellas:
We randomly got taken out the back of the jellyfish tanks (where they feed them from) where we learned that it's no coincidence that jelly tanks in aquariums are always round - they have to be round so the little guys don't get stuck in corners or tangled up. When Natasha asked what happens to the jellies once the outgrow their tank the guy said they die. So that was fun!
After the aquarium we went to lunch at Bubba Gump's - who knew this place was real? Granted, it's a chain and it was made after the film but in the UK we've not even set up one wizarding school let alone a whole chain.
We then paid $10 to drive along the 17 Mile Drive, a really famous and exclusive neighbourhood around a golf course and by the sea - yes, that is nearly 60 cents a mile but totally worth it. We saw this:
At dinner we were joined by the rest of my fousins and just laughed about stupid stuff - these people are incredibly laid back and it is so tempting to hide in their garage and not come out! Do you think immigration would mind? I keep joking about this but I am deadly serious, I assure you.
Tonight I helped Zander with his Spanish homework which was double hard because I had to think about how things might be said in an Americanised version of South American Spanish. Lots of "andale, andale"s went in. Kidding! Natasha and I then went for a walk through my old neighbourhood and I caught a glimpse of my old house - fousin Drea promises to take me back tomorrow for a proper look round - it gave me goosebumps, I can't wait to go back.
Goodnight y'all!
